Tattoos for Women

Tattoos for Women

by Erishkegal on Aug.22, 2009, under tattoos for women

I started this site because while there are lots of sites about tattoos and tatoo designs, there are almost no sites about tattoos for women. Most tattoo websites are designed for men and don’t serve the needs of women. Many men and women are into inking, but women get tattoos for different reasons than men and need information directed specifically toward them.

Look closely - this is a tattoo of Alaksa on Dakota's hip

Whether you are thinking about your first tattoo or your tenth, getting a new tattoo is a big decision. Before you walk into that tattoo parlor you need to carefully think through the type of design you are looking for and choose the best design for you. This site highlights tattoo designs, tattoo artists, and actual photos and stories of women like you who found the tattoos that were right for them. Tattoos for Women helps you find the tattoo design for you.

Star Tattoos for Women

by Erishkegal on Feb.09, 2010, under Celestial Tattoos, Star Tattoos, tattoos for women

Below are some super cute star tattoo photos I collected from around the web. I really like star tattoos. There’s something fun and hopeful about star designs. Stars make great tattoos for women, for me they symbolize following your dreams and believing in yourself. Also they look sexy and feminine without being overly “girlie”, which I like.

Lotus Tattoos and Tattoo Mistakes

by Erishkegal on Sep.26, 2009, under Flower Tattoos, tattoos for women

Lotus flowers make beautiful tattoos for women in my opinion. The lotus flower is an important symbol in many parts of Asia, both for Buddhists and Hindus. Below are some beautiful lotus flower tattoos I found via Craftster. I know, it seems like a strange place to find tattoo photos, but there are several amazing threads there filled with folks sharing their tattoos.

Women with Tattoos – What do you think of Kerry Katona’s new tattoo?

by Erishkegal on Sep.23, 2009, under Women with Tattoos

Sorry, I love beautiful tattoos, but getting someone’s name tattooed on you is never a good idea. Frankly a tattoo should be for you and not for anyone else. If someone really loves you they wouldn’t want to brand you in that way. It’s just creepy!

Do you believe this woman’s story? Could you fall asleep while being tattooed?

by Erishkegal on Sep.22, 2009, under Celestial Tattoos, Women with Tattoos

belgatatu

Looks like this woman is back in the news: Belgian girl receives 56 star tattoos when she only asked for 3 | Momento 24. She claims that the tattoo artist she went to tattooed her without her permission, but I have trouble believing that she fell asleep and wasn’t paying attention while she was being tattooed. I guess that proves that it’s a good idea to bring a friend along when you go to get a tattoo. It seems more likely to me that her family was pissed off when they found out what she had done and she decided to make up that story. Anyone have any more information about this case? Ever heard of another case of involintary tattooing?

I can see where many women might be too nice to stop an artist in the middle of a tattoo. After all, what are you going to do? You pretty much have to wait and see how it turns out.

Tattoos for Women – Flower Tattoos

by Erishkegal on Aug.22, 2009, under Flower Tattoos

Flowers are some of the most popular tattoos for women. Maybe this is because flowers are so feminine and while many women like tattoos, there is still a concern that having a tattoo might be associated with burly bikers. One of the coolest things about getting a flower tattoo is that there are some many different types of flowers, each with it’s own traditional meaning.

Choosing a Tattoo to Memorialize a Loved One? Many Women Do.

by Erishkegal on Aug.19, 2009, under Women with Tattoos

CARLOS OSORIO/TORONTO STAR

CARLOS OSORIO/TORONTO STAR

Nicole Fetterly from Toronto got these tattoos to memorialize her boyfriend and her sister who both died tragically.  Many women, like Nicole, want to memorize their loved ones by getting a tattoo. For many women, tattoos represent at deeper sign of their grief and loss than simply wearing black.

Angel wings, halos and hearts are all common symbols for memorial tattoos. While these are great symbols, the tattoo should remind you of your loved one as well. You might consider what image will remind you of the things you love about that person. What was unique and special about that person that you love?

Remember you will live with this tattoo for the rest of you life. (Hopefully.) If you have ideas, but not a finished design you can join a site like TattooMeNow which have thousands of designs. Even if you don’t find exactly the design you want, it will help you to get close. Getting some samples of the type of designs you like is key. Even the best tattoo artists aren’t mind readers. Once you have some samples and take them to a great artist, that person can draw something specifically for you and what you like.

Five Advantages for Tattoos for Women in their Eighties

by Erishkegal on Aug.17, 2009, under Bird Tattoos, Women with Tattoos

One thing that really bothers me is the way that people assume that tattoos are only for the young, or the beautiful, or the able-bodied. We all know that a beautiful, feminine tattoo can be very sexy, especially on someone young and thin. On the other hand, an artistic, meaningful tattoo can look great on an older woman. I think all women should be proud of their bodies and tattoos are a great way for women to celebrate their bodies and their lives.
Take a look at this article and video from the Cleveland Plains Dealer: Eileen Kiesel of Cleveland shows off her tattoos. I say, “You go Eileen!”

Five Advantages of Getting a Tattoo in your 80s

  1. You don’t have to worry about what your employer will think
  2. You don’t have to worry about what it will look like in thirty years
  3. You can get a tattoo for each of your grandchildren, so you can brag about your tattoos and you grandchildren at the same time
  4. Your tattoos will look much better than your friends who got theirs in their 50s
  5. You just don’t care what other people think!

Seattle Tattoo Expo

Tattoo Expo draws artists from all over | Seattle Times Newspaper

Looks like an exciting display of tattoo artistry in Seattle this week! I love

Seattle culture, so hip.

“Seattle has a very rich collection of tattoo artists,” Funk said. “When you have that type of talent, it inspires you to do more and push yourself.” It also brings in new collectors.

“What we see now is a complete reflection of society in general,” Funk said. “There is no tattoo subculture. The lines have been blurred. If you have a love of the art, you’re going to get a tattoo.”

It sounds like Seattle would be a great place for women to find amazing tattoo studios. Anyone know any great tattoo studios in the Seattle area?
